The AEO layer — Pro Link Solutions

Prepared for Pro Link Solutions — Brandon Rangel / IgnitivIO Date: August 28, 2026

What AEO is, in one paragraph

AEO — Answer Engine Optimization — is the layer of work aimed at showing up when someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google's AI Overviews, or Bing Copilot a question like "who does commercial property maintenance in Austin?" It's different plumbing from SEO. SEO optimizes a page to rank in Google's blue-link results, where a human clicks through. AEO optimizes a page (and its structured data, its declared entities, and its machine-readable metadata) to be cited by an AI as the answer itself — a very different distribution mechanism, with different signals, and one that most Lubbock service companies haven't started working yet. It's a first-mover window that closes in the next 12–18 months.

Pro Link is actually ahead of most of the market on the two hardest AEO fundamentals. This doc covers what's already ahead, and what to add to press the advantage.

What Pro Link is already doing right on AEO

These are worth calling out because they're rare — most sites we audit don't have either of them:

Combined, those two files put Pro Link ahead of roughly 95% of commercial service sites in Texas on AI-crawler posture.

Where the AEO opportunity is

Four concrete additions — in order of expected impact.

1. Add Service + LocalBusiness JSON-LD to every service and service-area page

This is the single highest-leverage AEO change available. Right now the 10 service pages and 6 service-area pages have zero structured data — meaning when an AI answer engine crawls prolink.solutions and tries to answer "who does commercial roofing in Houston," it has no structured entity to attach the page to. It sees the words, but not the machine-readable claim "this page is offering roofing services from a LocalBusiness that serves Houston."

What to add: a Service block (with serviceType matching the page — "Commercial Roofing," "Commercial HVAC," etc.) and a LocalBusiness block on each service page, plus a LocalBusiness block scoped to the specific metro on each service-area page (with areaServed naming the surrounding cities). Ten service pages × ~10 minutes each = one afternoon of work. This alone dramatically improves the odds of Pro Link being cited by ChatGPT / Perplexity / AI Overviews on trade-and-city queries.

2. Expand the FAQPage schema on /common-questions from 1 Question to 8–12

FAQ content in structured form is prime AI-citation fuel — it's the format LLMs prefer to lift when composing an answer. The page currently renders many FAQs to human visitors but declares only 1 in schema, so AI engines see only 1. Expanding to 8–12 (pricing, response times, service areas, insurance, emergency service, national coverage, vendor management, etc.) turns this page from an underused asset into a workhorse for AI answers.

Bonus: every added Q&A is also eligible for FAQ rich-results in traditional SERPs, so this doubles as SEO lift.

3. Add author / expert attribution to the blog posts

The 10 blog posts under / (Landscaping in San Antonio, Plumbing in Houston, Electrical in Dallas, etc.) currently have no byline or Person schema. AI answer engines prefer to cite content that has a named author with declared expertise — it's part of how they weigh trust. Adding a simple Person schema block (name + role + short bio + link to an /about mention) to each post signals to LLMs "this is written by a subject-matter expert at a real company," which meaningfully raises citation odds.

Small edit per post, real cumulative impact.

4. Definition-first opening line on the service and blog pages

LLMs tend to lift the first 1–3 sentences of a topical page when composing an answer. The strongest pattern is a definition-first opener that plainly states "[Service X] is [plain definition]. Pro Link Solutions provides [service X] for [commercial audience] in [specific geography]." Most of Pro Link's service pages currently open with a benefit or value statement — great for humans, weaker for AI citation. Rewriting the top paragraph on the service pages to the definition-first pattern (without losing the human-facing warmth further down) is a copy edit, not a rebuild, and it directly increases the odds of being the sentence an AI answer engine quotes.

Two off-site moves worth making

Two moves that live off-site but affect AEO citation quality:

The measurable outcome to aim for

None of this competes with or overlaps the SEO work already running. AEO is a distinct layer — same site, different plumbing — and it's a fast lane precisely because so few competitors are in it yet.

How this gets done

Everything above is specific enough to act on as-is. Three ways it can happen, in whatever mix fits:

No wrong answer — the point of this document is that the thinking's done either way.
